DCW F.C
DCW Church is branching out this year by taking intentional steps to establish our very own United Christians Church League football team. This exciting new venture has been created to provide our male church members with a consistent and meaningful opportunity to gather outside of regular services, strengthening fellowship through a shared passion for football. DCW FC will create a space where relationships can grow naturally, friendships can be formed, and existing connections can be deepened in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.
Through DCW FC, we aim to reach beyond the walls of the church by using football as a powerful tool for outreach, connection, and engagement with our wider community. The team will not only allow our men to enjoy the sport they love but will also encourage teamwork, discipline, and mutual support, all while reflecting our Christian values both on and off the pitch. Ultimately, DCW FC is about more than football — it is about building community, strengthening faith, and creating opportunities for meaningful connection through sport.
DCW Telford Tour
DCW has had the privilege of being annual attendees at the NCFF Ambassadors Football Tournament held in Telford. We have been attending since 2018/19 and, since 2023/24, have had the honour of taking two teams each year. This tournament gives us the opportunity to bring 40–50 young men, aged 17–35, together with other believers while playing the sport we all love.
We have also been blessed to come away as winners on five occasions. Trips like these allow us to step outside of the Rhondda Valley, hear from inspiring guest speakers from the Ambassadors Foundation, and listen to powerful testimonies of lives transformed by Christ. These experiences have a lasting impact on our young church community, once again using sport as a key tool for connection and growth. We’d like to thank Ambassador Sports for their time and dedication, and we highly recommend this opportunity to other churches.
DCW Five a Side
After our Sunday church service, we take a smaller group of around 12 men to play a five-a-side match at an indoor facility just 15 minutes from the church. This creates a great space for connection after the service, often allowing conversations about what was learned that morning as we travel together. The day is then rounded off with a friendly yet competitive game that lifts spirits and sets everyone up well for the week ahead.
Five-a-side has become so popular that we now operate a booking system, complete with reserve lists — and occasionally even “touchline managers” hoping to get involved!
